In 2017 we worked for a Hungarian company as its external sales partner. Our international sales team was responsible for the presale of IT-services in Germany.

We started the presale with sales consulting, defined together the target region and target groups and prepared the database of potential customers. 430 potential customers in 7 different target groups were prepared to provide the presale and analyze the reaction of potential customers. The only question before the presale was the position of decision makers. Is the CEO or the project manager the decision maker? Our customer couldn’t answer the question. The presale via cold call provided by our German call center agents started in the 37th week. We contacted all 430 potential customers in 10 weeks. Our presale brought very useful experiences, reactions and results.

By the 1st target group we spoke in 42% of cases with the decision maker. We analyzed their demand, introduced the services of our customer and we spoke about the possible cooperation and its benefits. We awoke the interest for the services of our customer in 18% of cases. By the first target group the presale showed us, that almost every 5th customer, available via decision maker was a high quality lead.

By the 2nd target group we spoke in 44% of cases with the decision maker. We analyzed their demand, introduced the services of our customer and we spoke about the possible cooperation and its benefits. We awoke the interest for the services of our customer in 45% of cases. By the second target group the presale showed us, that almost every 2nd customer, available via decision maker was a high quality lead.

By the 3rd target group we spoke in 51% of cases with the decision maker. We analyzed their demand, introduced the services of our customer and we spoke about the possible cooperation and its benefits. We awoke the interest for the services of our customer in 67% of cases. By the third target group the presale showed us, that more than every 2nd customer, available via decision maker was a high quality lead.

By the 4th target group, same as by the third one, we spoke in 51% of cases with the decision maker. We analyzed their demand, introduced the services of our customer and we spoke about the possible cooperation and its benefits. We awoke the interest for the services of our customer in 55% of cases. By the fourth target group the presale showed us again, that more than every 2nd customer, available via decision maker was a high quality lead.

By the 5th target group we spoke in 49% of cases with the decision maker. We analyzed their demand, introduced the services of our customer and we spoke about the possible cooperation and its benefits. We awoke the interest for the services of our customer in 55% of cases. By the fifth target group the presale showed us again, that more than every 2nd customer, available via decision maker was a high quality lead.

By the 6th target group we spoke in 50% of cases with the decision maker. We analyzed their demand, introduced the services of our customer and we spoke about the possible cooperation and its benefits. We awoke the interest for the services of our customer in 53% of cases. By the sixth target group the presale showed us again, that more than every 2nd customer, available via decision maker was a high quality lead.

By the 7th target group, same as by the sixth, we spoke in 50% of cases with the decision maker. We analyzed their demand, introduced the services of our customer and we spoke about the possible cooperation and its benefits. We awoke the interest for the services of our customer in 58% of cases. By the seventh target group the presale showed us again, that more than every 2nd customer, available via decision maker was a high quality lead.

The average statistics of the seven target groups were: in 48% of cases we spoke with the decision maker and awoke the interest for the services of our customers in 51% of cases. The presale showed us, that more than every 2nd customer, available via decision maker was a high quality lead. We decided to use all defined target groups in the future except the 1st target group.
